Convergence Studio was an exploratory music composition project I did with Chase Bowman. We set up a recording studio at Convergence festivals, and made sound samples from whomever entered. It was then immediately crafted into emergent music tracks and performed on the last day by the many anonymous contributors.
Convergence Studio was an experiment in emergent songwriting, and let us use spontaneous contribution to help anyone (even non-musicians) write and perform music. It was liberating for the participants to have the hard work of songwriting offloaded, so they could focus on sharing intuitive sounds that would contribute to something larger than anyone knew.
